What is Hometree Finance?
How the Hometree Solar Plan works
Hometree Finance is a UK finance provider for home energy upgrades, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Its Solar Plan spreads the cost of solar panels and an optional battery into monthly payments. Unlike a standard loan, the plan also includes monitoring, inspections, repairs and replacements for its full term.
Hometree Finance
Checks your application, sets up your agreement, and looks after monitoring, inspections and repairs for the length of your plan.
You
Pick your system, your plan length and whether to pay anything upfront. Applying is online, and there is no obligation to go ahead.
H&R Energy Solutions
Surveys your roof, designs your system, sends your application link with your quote, and installs everything to MCS standards.
What you could save
Estimate your solar panel savings
Solar panels cut your bill by powering your home with the electricity they make, and you get paid for what you send to the grid. A battery lets you use more of your own power in the evening.
Your yearly solar savings
Move the slider to match your yearly electricity use. It is on your energy bill.
You would use almost all the power this system makes, so using more electricity can’t increase your savings. A bigger system could save you more.
Estimate only, using 26p per kWh for electricity (the Ofgem price cap average for October to December 2026) and 12p per kWh for export, with a typical 5kWh battery. Your actual savings depend on your roof, shading, energy use, tariff and export rate. Your survey gives you a proper estimate.

Battery storage
Add a solar battery to your plan
Solar panels make most of their power in the middle of the day, when many homes use the least. A battery stores what you don’t use, so you can run your home on solar power into the evening.
- Store spare solar power to use in the evening
- Use more of your own electricity and buy less from the grid
- Charge from cheaper off-peak tariffs overnight
- Covered by the same repairs and replacement cover as your panels
- VAT-free when installed until 31 March 2027
on solar panels and batteries installed in your home
Eligibility
Who can get the Hometree Solar Plan?
The plan is open to most homeowners and private landlords in England and Wales. These are the main rules.
You can apply if
- You own the home and live in it
- You are a private landlord who owns the property in your own name
- The property is in England or Wales
- You want new solar panels, with or without a battery
- Your system is worth between £6,000 and £50,000
- You are happy for Hometree to carry out its application checks
Not covered

- Tenants, unless the owner applies
- Adding a battery on its own to existing panels
- Applications that don’t pass Hometree’s checks
Landlords can use it too
Private landlords who own a let property in their own name can spread the cost of solar. If you sell the property, the plan can be paid off or taken over by the buyer.
