How the ECO4 scheme works
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is a government scheme. Energy suppliers pay for upgrades that make eligible homes warmer and cheaper to heat.
ECO4 is aimed at households on low incomes or receiving qualifying benefits, and at homes with a low energy efficiency rating. It can cover insulation and, in some cases, heating upgrades.
ECO4 is due to close on 31 December 2026. Funding is limited and varies by energy company, so we can’t guarantee funding for every enquiry.
Available measures include:
- Free Loft Insulation
- Free Cavity Wall Insulation
- Internal and Solid Wall Insulation
- Room-in-Roof Insulation
- Heating system upgrades (via ECO4)
Whether you qualify depends on your home, your circumstances and the scheme rules. Every enquiry is assessed individually. A free survey is the first step.

No. If you’re eligible for ECO4, the installation is fully funded and you won’t pay for the works.
Yes, if you’re eligible for ECO4. Loft insulation is fully funded for eligible households.
Most homes built after the 1920s are suitable. Our free home survey will confirm if your property has cavity walls and whether they can be safely insulated.
Internal wall insulation is applied inside the home, ideal for solid walls or heritage properties. External wall insulation is fitted outside, often used to reduce heat loss and improve appearance. We recommend the best option based on your home.
If your loft has been converted into a living space, room in roof insulation helps prevent heat loss through the roof slopes, ceilings, and walls. It’s common in older properties with attic rooms.
Most installations are completed in 1 to 2 days, depending on the type of insulation and the size of your property.
